Whilst this is a just a rumor for now, it does feel like it makes sense to me as I always suspected Disney would be looking to do the same thing with Star Wars they are going to be doing with Marvel. I.e. high budget limited episode runs to flesh out certain characters. Disney+ will reportedly feature shows about Loki, Scarlet Witch and Vision, Bucky and Falcon and perhaps a few others as well.

Now we have a rumor that Star Wars will be getting the same treatment and this comes from We Got This Covered, who claim sources have mentioned to them that Qi’Ra and Lando will both have series based around them for the streaming service. You may remember that both characters appeared in Solo and were played by Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover respectively. The outlet also mentions they had heard that Finn and Poe from the new movies would also be getting a limited series on Disney+.

Interestingly on the back of this report, a supposed Star Wars insider came forward on Twitter to say that they hadn’t heard anything about Qi’Ra but though a Han Solo and Lando series was happening. Check it out.

All this is very interesting but until we get more concrete information we can’t really say for certain how things will shake out. What I will say is that this sounds like good business sense from Disney and since the future of the movies is up in the air after Star Wars: Episode 9, it makes sense to carry on the stories that would have featured in a Solo sequel in a long format on Disney +.

I always said I felt a Solo sequel could have been superior to the first and I actually think a TV show is an even better idea, exploring Han and Lando’s relationship prior to A New Hope and it could also feature a separate underworld series led by Qi’Ra and featuring perhaps Darth Maul etc.

So if this is the plan going forward then I’m in. And it gives me even more reason to subscribe to Disney + when it finally launches. As for Poe and Finn series, well, until we see how things pan out in Star Wars: Episode 9 it’s hard to get a read on how well this would work

What do you think of this rumor, would you be open to TV show spin-offs from the Solo movie since we know a sequel will never happen? Give us a shout about what you think in the usual place below.
